The Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange suddenly canceled the sale of tokens of the content exchange service from Kim Dotcom (a German-Finnish entrepreneur). The exchange’s blog reports that it decided not to conduct an IEO, the purpose of which was to raise $ 8 million.
The reason for this step was a change in the attitude towards such tokens on the part of regulatory authorities, which created potential difficulties for both issuers and investors.
“Since we announced the debut of Kimcoin on the Bitfinex Token Sale platform, the regulatory environment has changed. The risks associated with raising funds turned out to be very significant and we must put the interests of our community at the forefront,” the exchange reports.
Accordingly, the issue of K .im tokens will be postponed indefinitely:
“After a thorough evaluation, we regret to inform you that Bitfinex Token Sale and the K.im team have mutually agreed not to sell tokens yet. K.im will postpone the issue of issuing tokens until the platform being created becomes fully functional.”
As reported, the IEO was associated with the development of the K .im content exchange monetization project, which is another creation of Dotcom after the MegaUpload 2 file sharing service.
Last month, Dotcom revealed that he was donating 10% of the platform’s commissions to Julian Assange to support his ongoing litigation.
